Beginner Basics: Learn to Sew with Knits Course

You feel like you’re a confident beginner sewing with stable woven fabrics and you want to take the next step to sew with knits. 

In this friendly, supportive beginner sewing course, Eliza will use her 25 years of sewing experience to extend your sewing abilities to include the fundamentals of basic sewing with knit and stretch fabrics. You’ll take away the confidence to sew your everyday wardrobe.

The Learn to Sew with Knits course is the third and final part in my Beginner Basics Sewing Series. This course combines theory with practice to give you a foundational skill set for sewing your own wardrobe. You will:

• learn a range of terminology, skills and techniques for basic knit and stretch sewing.
• have fun making 2-3 projects to take home.
• take away bags of confidence and a pocket-full of ambition for your next project.

Eliza will meet you where you’re at with the intention for you to finish with the confidence to call yourself a Sewer. Sewing is a lifelong skill so Eliza wants to build your self-confidence to continue exploring new sewing projects and improving your own skills through practice and just having a go at things.

SKILL LEVEL AND ELIGIBILITY:

This course is suitable for adults and children who can confidently perform basic sewing techniques with stable woven fabrics. If you’re not there yet, please take a look at my Learn to Use a Sewing Machine and Learn to Sew courses which are the perfect prerequisites for this course.

Children aged under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult for supervision. If the accompanying adult intends to participate themselves, they must purchase a ticket, unless they are staying for supervision only.

DETAILS:

This course runs for a total of 10 hours over 4 sessions on a Thursday night. Feel free to book two spots and bring along your partner, friend or capable kiddo to learn together. Please ensure that you are available for all 4 lessons as the tickets are non-transferrable nor refundable.

WHAT TO BRING:

• a positive attitude to sewing.
• the sewing machine that you would like to learn with (optional).
• other tools that you would like to practice with (optional).
• drinks of your choice (if preferred over drinks provided).
  • alcohol may only be brought and consumed by those over 18 years of age.

WHAT IS PROVIDED:

• tea, coffee, hot chocolate, snacks.
• sewing machines (per your booking).
• sewing tools.
• fabrics and all haberdashery required for the projects.
• sewing expertise and a creative environment.
