Beginner Basics: Learn to Sew Continuers (November)

Continue your journey in gaining skill and confidence to become a lifelong sewer. Part of your fundamental sewing knowledge should include how to sew with knit and stretch fabrics. In this friendly, supportive beginner sewing course, Eliza will use her 25 years of sewing experience to teach you the fundamentals of basic sewing with stretch fabrics and give you the confidence to continue sewing throughout your life.

This beginner sewing course goes beyond pushing you through for the sake of completing a project. You will learn knowledge around correct needles and presser feet for knits as well as appropriate sewing techniques. You'll have fun making a project to take home and you'll also take away bags of confidence and a pocket-full of ambition for your next project.

Remember that sewing is a lifelong skill so Eliza wants to build your self-confidence to continue exploring new sewing projects and improving your own skills through practice and having a go.

SKILL LEVEL AND ELIGIBILITY:

This course is suitable for anyone who has attended my Beginner Basics: Learn to Sew course or anyone with a fundamental knowledge of how to use a sewing machine and sew basic seams looking to improve their technique repertoire. Your prerequisite knowledge must include how to thread and operate a sewing machine as this will not be taught as part of this course. 

Children aged under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult for supervision for at least the first week. If the accompanying adult intends to participate in the full course, they must also purchase a ticket to the course. If the accompanying adult is staying for supervision only, they are not required to purchase the course.

WHAT TO BRING:

• a positive attitude to sewing.
• the sewing machine that you would like to learn with (optional).
• other tools that you would like to practice with (optional).
• drinks of your choice (if preferred over drinks provided).
  • alcohol may only be brought and consumed by those over 18 years of age.

WHAT IS PROVIDED:

• tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sweet treats.
• sewing machines (per your booking).
• sewing tools.
• fabrics and all haberdashery required for the projects.
• sewing expertise and a creative environment.

DETAILS:

This course runs for a total of 7.5 hours over 3 sessions on a Thursday night. Feel free to book two spots and bring along your partner, friend or capable kiddo to learn together. Please ensure that you are available for all sessions as the tickets are non-transferrable nor refundable.
