Do you have a creative kiddo in your life who would love to learn to sew? My Summer School Holiday Workshops series is beginner friendly, creative, inclusive and fun for primary and high school-aged kids.
Scrunchies Workshop
DETAILS:
Tuesday 20 January 2026, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
This workshop is held in the inspiring main gallery at Timbermill Studios:
2-6 Molloy Street Bulli.
The Timbermill Cafe will be open for purchases until 2:00 pm daily. Onsite and street parking available.
SKILL LEVEL:
- This workshop is beginner friendly. It would be advantageous if your child has used a sewing machine at least once before. However, if your child doesn't have machine experience but has a penchant for creativity and/or sewing, I would love to support them through learning the basics to complete their project.
WHAT THEY WILL LEARN:
- Fundamentals of safely using a sewing machine and other required tools.
- How to sew a straight seam.
- How to use a hot iron to finish your project.
WHAT IS PROVIDED:
- All materials required to complete up to 3 scrunchies.
- Sewing machines and all other supplies and tools required to complete the project.
Note re materials provided: a mixture of vintage, reclaimed and new items; a variety of prints and colours to choose from.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Water bottle and a snack.
- In the event that your child has a specific piece of fabric they'd like to use, it needs to be least 20 X 80 cm (this is optional only as all materials are provided).
WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL LEAVE WITH:
- A fun collection of scrunchies.
- A smile on their face.
FORMALITIES:
If your child is required to take medication during the session times, the parent/carer is required to attend to administer this. I do not take responsibility for administering any medications.
A completed Permission to Publish form is required for your child to participate in the workshop. The form will be emailed to you.
A basic first aid kit will be available at all sessions to treat minor injuries.
