Ruffles make everything cuter, no? Join me in making your very own quilted tote bag with a ruffle edge and internal zip pocket!
DETAILS:
Sunday 15 February 2026, 10:00 pm - 4:30 pm, with a 30 minute lunch break.
This workshop is held in the inspiring main gallery at Timbermill Studios:
2-6 Molloy Street Bulli.
The Timbermill Cafe will be open for purchases until 2:00 pm daily. Onsite and street parking available.
SKILL LEVEL:
- This workshop is for confident beginners. You do need the basics skills to safely thread and operate a sewing machine as this is assumed and not taught in the workshop. (If you don’t yet have these skills, best to skip this workshop and sign up to my upcoming Learn to Use a Sewing Machine class. From there you’ll be good to join in any of my future courses or workshops!)
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
- How to quilt with wadding;
- How to make and attach a ruffle;
- How to insert a zipper; and
- How to make a tote bag!
WHAT IS PROVIDED:
- All materials required to make a tote bag.
- Sewing machines (as required) and all other supplies and tools required to complete your project.
- Light refreshments.
Note re materials provided: a mixture of vintage, reclaimed and new items; a variety of prints and colours to choose from; limited in nature so not everyone will be able to use the same fabrics.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Lunch (or plans to purchase it).
- Water bottle.
- It's optional to provide your own fabric if there's something specific you'd like to use.
WHAT YOU WILL LEAVE WITH:
- A tote bag.
- A smile on your face.
FORMALITIES:
A basic first aid kit will be available at all sessions to treat minor injuries.
